Porting cylinder head

Has anyone opened the ports up on there head with a die grinder? If so did you open them up to the same size as the gaskets? I just worried that the wall thickness of the ports. I don't want to go through them

If i were to go that far it might be better to get a machine to do it, that way it will be even, some porting can actually make air flow worse, as some bumps and lips are there to create turbulence e.t.c i just used one to file down the casting marks and imperfections and gave it a light polish.

Vw heads flow pretty well anyway, i just dont see the need unless your pushing for big numbers.

Im not looking for big numbers. I just thought id do it whilst the head is off. Im gonna turbo it as you know dave so it was mainly for that really. I just thought a bigger volume of air getting rammed into the cylinder means a bigger bang equaling bigger power or easier for me to hit the 400bhp mark im aiming for. Im gonna open my lower inlet up too before I build my 2.9 lump back up too for the same reason

Yeah i agree,the less restriction there is, the less stress your putting on the engine for the pressure your running, but a bigger hole doesnt necessarily make it better.

Just watch the kardashians for proof.
