ebmurray 0
Anyone had to fork out for one of these? I've just been quoted £900 for a new pump, sensor and another bit of housing! That's parts, VAT and labour! Sound about right?Ed
VR6Pete 1,455
flaps! whats up with ur ABS then? I nearly bought a new ABS pump and ECU just because VAG COM couldnt connect to the ABS unit to diagnose my problem, ended up as a disconnected wire in the end!Pete
ebmurray 0
Is that so Pete!! They haven't told me fully what the problem is, just that the fault code is there! VAG COM says the pump and rear offside sensor have packed in. They've replaced the sensor to see if that clears the fault, but no luck! I'm leaving it over night so will speak with the guys at the garage tomorrow. Hopefully it's just a wire then!!
Seademon 0
I've just bought a 2nd hand pump from Ray @ Voodoo motorsport over on edition38 for £45 - just gotta fit it. My ABS isnt working and the EDL solenoid cuts in and out when cruising on the motorway. I've been told by a few people that these pumps are over £500 from VW! My abs light was on all the time but its gone out now but it still doesnt work :0)
VR6Pete 1,455
get a 2nd opionion before shelling out huge amounts of wedge like that,,, i also know that the wires to the sensors can perish too...
stu h 0
as pete says - get a second opinion before spendingt that kind of money. getting someone to go over the wiring is a good idea -even if it brings up faults with the sensors they could be just dirty or have a loose connection. ebmurray 0
Right, I've been back to the garage this morning and they are going to take the thing off and examine wiring etc to check for corrosion!! They're a bugger to get off though and my mechanic was reluctant to do so!! Thing is, if they take it off, check it and think they may have fixed it. When they put it back on and it still doesn't work they've wasted quite a bit of time!!I still may have to buy a new one as well.Definately worth checking though.Ed
Paul Allen 0
I had pretty much the same problem as you , in the end i bought a second hand ABS pump and ECU from EBay for £50 and i am going to get Stealth to fit it. I let you know how i get on, as i am sure this is a cheaper option.

ebmurray 0
So, the garage I use has taken the pump and control unit apart to investigate further. It seems as though the pump is alright, however the control unit isn't behaving!! This is a sealed unit and therefore can only really be replaced. I'm told these units are around £450. Don't really wanna be paying this but I gotta stop!Anyone had similar probs?Ed
