Hi All,

I've seen a few of you mention aligning your throttle bodies after maintenance on the engine and disconnecting the battery etc. Since my car is currently in pieces while i renew a few things and fit my 6 branch I figured it couldn't hurt to do this when its back together. However looking through and searching the forums I can't see a guide? I've Googled it and all i get is loads of arguments whether or not you can do it without VAG-COM. So I guess my question is can you? Not to open a can of worms just looking for a yes or no really. Also if no does anyone know what the open door and bonnet, turn ignition on wait 30 seconds thing actually does, since it seems its doing something from what I've read?

Thanks guys! :)

you can do it with or without vag-com on OBD2 engine.

option 1 - without vag-com (after battery disconnected)

just turn ignition on, wait for the throttle body to stop making noises, job done.

option 2 With vag-com

using vag-com just forces it to do the same as option 1 ;)
