puncture nightmare

i had a puncture the other day and put the spare wheel on drove off and here a rubbing noise....the fucking caliper rubs on the inside of the wheel. any 1 have this problem before and is there a bigger version....

bugger! bit of an odd one tho -are you on standard brakes? and was it the standard spacesaver spare?

you could probably get (i presume you mean the spacesaver) out of a later model for peanuts from a breakers -either a 4motion one or r32 one or something

thats what i did in the end but just the fact that the standard space saver dont fit i was shocked.....will look into the mk4 and r32 versons cheers

if you have a late car (288mm brakes) you wil have a 16" space saver if you have an early one (280mm brakes) you will have the 15" space saver

o seen ive got the 288mm 1. but got a 15" o well. will get the right 1 safe

i can't claim credit for thinking that up (though i'd like to think i'd come up with the same idea!), i saw it either in a mag or on a top gear style programme, and there was a brand new car (something exotic) that came out that requred you to the same thing!

On a VR running big brakes or a TT 312mm conversion, you will need to do this even if you have a 16" spare wheel.

The R32/4Motion spare wheel is not an option, as it has the wrong rolling radius.

My tyres are nail magnets, so I know all about this stuff.
