Bought cheaply on impulse I have a few options with what to do with it. It's a third car but I expect it will get quite a lot of use. I want to be able to use it for occasional daily duties and also a couple of trackdays throughout the year.

It's largely standard but very, very blue (dash, seats and pretty much everything else!)

The plan is to drive it for a few weeks, suss out what needs fixing or improving and then start stripping surplus weight out if it.

I already have Corbeau seats and a Momo dished wheel to go in to 'improve' the look of things

It drove quite well when I took it up the road but the turn in is every bit as heavy as I remember. Will camber adjustments make much difference to this? (If so is that a case of getting top mounts.....what settings would be best?) The steering is very light, brakes felt a bit wooden but the engine felt nice and punchy. How do the gearboxes hold up with enthusiastic driving? I have been told that they are water cooled but do they get overly hot when on track for example?

I have a small budget to play with (circa £1000) to upgrade bits and bobs. Bushes seem OK and the bodywork is actually much better than I expected, so that's more labour saved.

I'm thinking coilovers with top mounts, anti roll bars and better brakes first but what would you spend your dosh on?

you will need , oil cooler, lots of tires, suspension and a decent cat back zorst and filter , and good pads / disc combo to start .. a remapped ecu wont hurt , and then you can add cams .. bar that they are pretty bomb proof , i've done lots in my vr6 turbo.. so im well versed to no what fails. gearboxes will be fine at your power level, unless its very unhealthly

Thanks Jim :)

I've bought some wheels and I already have tyres, so that's another set. Is a 19 row oil cooler good enough for these or should it be a bit bigger because of the engine size? An exhaust is a must as it sounds way to sensible and suspension was likely to be Gaz Golds as I've had good results with them for a bargain price. One thing that is proving a mission..............adjustable top mounts! Are these not necessary on VR6's as I can't seem to find any for sale?

Any tips or advice welcome (as long as you know what you're on about :) )

no need for adjustable top mounts .. i run gaz adjustable damping shocks and p.i springs , and they do me fine .. i could do with a stiffer spring but the dampers work very well, 13 row will be ok , i use that on my turbo..

i can supply air filter, suspension etc .. drop me a pm if your intrested and ill work out some prices .
