Vw_owner 1
i checked a few fuses, 10,14,21 even though on the panel it didnt say anything about any fuses being listed for locking, there all good and as far as i know all electrics work as they should, i also forced the drivers door pin down to lock the car and all the other door pins went down with it and when i pulled it up they all came back up, so that indicates no leaks in vacum system, iv unpluged the vacum pump but cant see any corrosion or any sign of damage around the connection plug, the earth for it is also good, also when i turn the key in the door theres nothing its just dead, cant hear any faint noises from anywhere, might try another pump but idd rather not waste my money trying it, just remembered i have a m8 with a mk3 golf so im gona ask him if we can swap the pumps over to eliminate that, cheers
cabrioman 6
does the drivers door lock do anything when you operate it ???? ie lock any doors at all ??? if not remove the outer door handle lock and see if the rod from the key lock to the door lock is broken ..... thats quite a common fault ..... Vw_owner 1
na you turn the key nothing happens , it just turns freely both ways, its exactly the same for the passenger side aswell, so seeing as its the same for the passenger side would that indicate its not the rod in the drivers door? ill check it out though cheers.. Vw_owner 1
checked the lock today tony and i think your right about door handle, i removed the door card and looking at the lock barrel some one has wrapped copper wire around it, theres like a bar with teeth and the wires wrapped around that , also when you turn the key the whole barrels turns and theres like rubber at the other end, i didnt have a torx key handy to remove the handle , im assumeing its that 1 torx key bolt in the door shut and then the handle just pops out? Vw_owner 1
sorted it today, lol i wish i had my phone with me to take pics!! some one at some point had repaired it with an old jigsaw blade and a small pen knife blade wrapped around the lock {tiny little loop} with copper wire, it had failed because the jigsaw blade had literaly rotted away, fixed it by cutting a strip of metal and welding it to a small peice of metal which was passed and bent through the lock loop before being welded,. solid as f%$^!! thanks tony i would of otherwise been searching for an electrical fault
