paceo 22
still the golf vr6 is running high CO emmisions, had it on the probe today at local garage and it was around 0.80 CO where it should be around 0.30ish.the car does hunt on idle quite a bit! there was only one fault code on vag-com a few months back - 00533 - Idle Speed Regulation.ive replaced by myself - new lambda sensor, de-cat, cleaned MAF, checked for split hoses what i can see, new leads / dizzy, cleaned idle control valve, new temperature senders, cleaned throttle body.any help peeps???? think i may need someone with more knowledge to check it over :-(
cabrioman 6
the CO will go up if you have a de-cat !!! it could also idle valve is fobarred and needs to be replaced -- did you clear the code and are there any in it now ????
russj249 2
0.8 CO is about right for a well running car without a cat. I work at an MOT station so see this all the time. Put a cat on and it'll come down.

russj249 2
If the emissions are exactly same with the cat than without the cat, maybe you're old cat was damaged and not working? Also I agree, definitely need to sort out the idle before doing anything else. paceo 22
many thanks for tonyvrt coming over and having a look, seems its just a case of trying a new idle valve, throttle body, fpr, tps or injectors etc to see if it cures the problem so im after some of these guys,
ashmk3 0
Been reading a few posts of yours, I have just done a mk2 vr6 using obd1 and I had similar problems Mine wouldnt start first time and ran dog rough and the strong fuel smell strange idle etc so I decided to take a look at the fuse box etc. when ignition was on all but one relay clicked. After a bit of research it turned out to be the heater control for lambda which I'm guessing powers the lambda probe. Mine had relay 72 but it should of been relay 53 as soon as relay 53 was in the car started first time and idled and ran smooth as anything. Hope this helps
