Miss-Vw 2
The VR needs an oil top up so I got some 5W/40 the other day but realised when I got home I had picked up the fully synthetic 8-) Would this be ok to use for now until I do an engine flush and full oil change in a few weeks? Its got semi synthetic at the moment but as I say its getting low. Some people say that fully synthetic is too thin and can cause leaks, but ive heard its better in the winter months because it warms up alot quicker??
bungy 2
As an immediate stop gap, some oil is better than no oil and I would top up with the semi-synthetic that you have. I personally never "flush" engine oil as I personally think it does more harm than good but rather change the oil more frequent and do it twice a year with the mileage I do. I don't like to see it carbon loaded. This is only my personal opinion though.
Miss-Vw 2
Ok thanks for the reply. I can always just go back and swap the oil, i havnt opened the bottle yet!But for future reference, when I do the full oil change - will fully synthetic be ok or should I stick to semi? bungy 2
If it is a 12v then i'd stick with the semi....
Antihero1981 8
what make is it? proper fully synth will be fine , but there are a few cheaper oils that prob would be to thin and not offer enough protectionCheck out opie oils , i run 10w50 in winter but only as charger thins everything thing out,
