VRVIRGIN 0
Okay, now i'm really wondering weather i should keep the car or not. There have never been many VR6's where i'm living, and so no one understands them. When i've gone to recomended spanners to have my chains replaced, all i got was, " VR's don't use timing chains" or " timing chains don't ever need to be replaced" Thank the almighty for VR6OC who know different. To cut a long story short, i've done 7k with a mullered chain link, constantly being told that there's nothing wrong with the engine. Just had them replaced at VW dealer who, along with a service and a little tie rod work have just chrged me 1200 Euros for the work. 1200 WTF are we driving here peeps? I'm not a happy bunny. By the way, thats on top of me having bought all the essential pieces at an earlier d8. spose it could hav been worse if the chain gave up. So if anyone reading this, is about to buy a VR 4 the 1st time, please listen to the soundclip on the timing chains thread. If you hear anything similar on any VR u see, stay clear or knock lots of money off, i know many may know someone who can do it etc, but if u have to rely on VW to do the work, forget it. Suspension and tyres for my tt comps is has now dissapeared. Thanx for letting me cry on all your shoulders.

VRVIRGIN 0
And on top of that they chipped my freshly sprayed wings and buggered my immobiliser. Had a wonderful 100km journey back to the garage in a recovery truck + 40km journey in a taxi home. Argh!Sorry, i know i should be more grateful for owning one, but nows not the time. Blamed them for the fault in the alarm which i've had for a while and so they're gonna fix it. I know it's a little dishonset, but i think i'm well within my right here lol. VR6Pete 1,455
I'm sorry to hear your misfortunes VRVirgin. The question is, is there anything that will be wrong with the car after the work has been carried out? If not, no point pondering on what might had bean, put it down to experience and dont take it back to the same dealership again..Peter
