hilla 0 Posted October 28, 2011 Report Share Posted October 28, 2011 Hi guy's, my mk3 vr6 has no pulling power, especially uphill, i have to change down to 2nd gear to get the car going. The throttle is also less responsive(got a flat spot). The motor sounds okay, no misfiring only using lots of fuel. We have summer now in South Africa & this is even making the problem worse, car feels like a dud. What could be the problem?, pls help Link to post Share on other sites

Have you not tried the same route in the evening when temp cools down to see if runs far better or just the same..In regards to your fuel issue-You 100% sure you have noticed fuelling being less off due to this.. Can a faulty lambda cause this?, by the it is an OBD1[/quote']Car relys on MAF, CTS(coolant Temp Switch) Lambda, Plus on your car you have a TPS (Throttle Position Sensor), were OBD2's didnt.I think the first thing to do would be check the MAF, disconnect it, and drive it, see how it feels.Thats what i'd do..Even though it'd run on safe mode, to a degree you should still have some pulling power. As far as i know only Obd2 needs to be calabirated(spelling), correct me if im wrong.[/quote']I have an OBD2, I do the same thing, take off and clean.In regards to Re-Calibrating the only thing that I and my freinds do is reset the thing, Take off + & - terminals from battery, hold the terminals together for 30sec, resets it all.Unfortunatly for OBD2, if the Throttle body chucks a TPS fault, it cannot be resolved as its built inside, Needs a new 1 were the OBD1 has a TPS where can be changed if at fault!!! Lucky!!!!!!!! OBD1 & 2 has its ups and downs.. Link to post Share on other sites
