vr6_super 0
I know people usually say to go VAGCOM but given the cost factor has anyone used the Lonelec readers before?I would prefer the VAG one to be honest if not for the analysis work alone but budget dictates I need something a bit cheaper lolI have a few problems with rear window wiper, passenger window and now I have a low range splutter that comes and goes every few weeks
bungy 2
There is nothing wrong with the budget fault readers if you accept their limitations. It won't help with your wipers or windows but might help with the splutter but you can not trend the readings which will make a intermittent fault hard to find.
vr6_super 0
Yeah thats what I was thinking, will do the normal plugs, leads, coilpack checks etc for the splutter and see what materialises.Re the window and wiper, will it not tell me if there is a break in any system? Like a faulty motor, fuse out, stuff like that?
gary.scales 0
I have had low range splutter on and off for nearly five years now, no nearer to finding the issue, changed leads, coil pack and plugs, no joy, it just does it.... learning to live with it now.... If you do find the issue on yours, let me know please!!
vr6_super 0
Yeah ive had it like 3 times this year and no idea what it is. It will probably be fine the next time I drive too, thats the annoying bit. My symptoms were just taking off was a bit spluttery but once I planted it it was fine.Dont know if it might be a fuel issue? Put Momentum in after using V Power for a while. Maybe a fuel filter issue, injector issue. All stuff to think about I spose.
gary.scales 0
Cant see it being a fuel issue, i have done far too many miles and filled up at too many different petrol stations for it to be that. not sure the fuel filter has ever been changed though lol!! not sure if your is the same but when mine is spluttery it revs up slower and wont want to go over 5k revs either.... vr6_super 0
Nah, my issue is when I start off it splutters but when I am over say 2500 revs its fine, and it goes where I want it after that.Had it out a couple of times since original prob and its been fine since. How often is yours happening? Ian_rogers 0
Mines the same, changed plugs and leads and now it's worse, next step is coilpack unfortunately :-( was only changed 18 months ago too :-(
bungy 2
Worth checking the fuel system properly. The fuel filter is often neglected and the fuel tank breather should be checked clear. Injectors that are worn or fouled will give these kind of running characteristics. Might be worth getting them cleaned and spray formations checked or replaced.
bungy 2
Also fuel pressure needs to remain at designed pressure to ensure injectors operate correctly and atomize the fuel.
gary.scales 0
I may have fixed this...... I haven't driven the car much but so far so good.... I cleaned the MAF, the idle control valve and the camshaft sensor.... fingers crossed.. will update if it doesn't cure permanently.
