bungy 2
We have just got Virgin media in our area and I'm tempted to give them a try and use the TV and broadband package. I'd appreciate any feedback good or bad on the Virgin services and packages.
Lukey. 381
Had virgin and had nothing but problems, we were given a promotional deal and every bill didn't apply these discounts, we spent ages on the phone every single bill and eventually cancelled all of their services. We've had sky hd with their bundled broadband for 2 years now and not one problem with either the service, billing or the equipment. The Internet we receive from sky is also 2mb as it's adsl and we have a long line, compared to virgins 10mb cable and the 2mb from sky is many times faster, go figure
dan_a 1
I've been with Virgin Media since they took over from Telewest and it's fine! The fibre optic broadband is second to none although the TV packages can be expensive if you have the top Sky packages, i.e. sports and movies. If you do go for Virgin get someone (like me!) who already has it to 'recommend' you, we'll both get £50 credit. :-)
craggsy 91
I've had virgin broadband since it came out and had no probs at all, bar the odd downtime it's been great.20mb service usually 17 mb download and 1 mb upload
bungy 2
I like the idea of 17mb downloading....
thesurgeon 51
I've got Virgins TIVO box and it's brilliant, 3 tuners 500gb storage and internet (really useful if someone else is on the PC) plus it learns your preferences and recommends stuff you wouldn't have noticed otherwise. There's also free calls to virgin mobiles on the phone package - which is nice. Only downside is the have to dig up whatevers between you and the nearest node to lay the cable, and drill holes in your walls to get the hub to where you want it.

bungy 2
Is the broadband reliable?
VeedubVR 0
Eveeyonnes download speed will channge depending on your area and the exchange near your area. Also depends on how well the provider manages their lines. The providers tend to tell you what you "could" get rather than what you "will" get. But again speeds vary through the day due to peak and offpeak times. Some virgin packages can be really expensive and virgin can have really long contracts.
Lukey. 381
That's with adsl not cable Internet, with cable everyone that runs the length of your line shares the same line so if no one else is on it at that time your throughput and ping will be really fast, get to an evening when everyones on and they can both drop dramatically, with adsl you are the only one on your line so as long as the provider isn't doing unfair throttling etc you will always get the speed your line is capable of. With cable your contention ratio can be 1:200 where adsl is like 1:
