faigolfgti 0
My vw golf mk3 vr6 came with 280mm front brake disc and i plan to upgrade to the later 288mm front brake disc,my question is is it going to improve alot of braking performance if i upgrade to 288mm front brake disc?Is it wort the effort for that little gain?Thank You. russj249 2
It's not just the size. if you put the 280 and 288mm pads together there's a lot lot more surface area on the 288's.more braking surface area means more friction, but more friction means more heat so go for a good pad or you might risk brake fade.hope this helps. legvw 0
Yes the braking will improve a little, but if you want better brakes, then maybe a 312mm conversion? There is a guide on here.I found the 280 brakes really poor, along with the abs system, which both nearly left me in various hedges!!! (this was when me car was relatively standard)
spadam 7
I noticed quite a diffrecne when i fitted the 288s to mine mainly due to the size diffrence in the pads also the calipers are also bigger. I agree with paul about abs and i really dont like it on my 4mo.
