Nerih 0
I just finished driving to shoreham (5am start..f00k!) in a hired ford mondeo which had an extremely light clutch pedal. When i got back home (5pm) i got in the car and my clutch feels REALLY heavy, are vr6 clutches usually quite heavy? or could there be a problem with the hydraulic servo since i know its not cable operated. Seademon 0
Not sure about other VR's but my clutch is quite light and springy - good enough to light up the tires all the way through 2nd too! :0) My previous car (Calibra) had a really heavy clutch compared to my Golf.[ Edited Tue Mar 01 2005, 05:14PM ]
goodboy1451 0
mine is quite light as well. I have driven a Corsa GSi, Punto GT and BMW 325i before and the VR6 is definitely a friendly clutch.
badboyV6 4
mine is quite light too. Although it is definitely on its way out- getting to the top of the pedal now and can get it to slip if im brutal- probably need a new one in 10k. Usuually id say if your clutch pedal was really heavy itd be the thrust bearing on its way out but not too sure when a hydraulic clutch is involved as youd think that the hydraulics would eliminate most of the hard work required with an increasingly resistant thrust bearing.... acf8181 0
certainly not heavy...in fact, i've never driven a vr6 with a heavy feeling clutch. its usually cable clutches that get heavy as the cable goes rusty.is probably just that mondeo's clutch was silly light. MK2R32 0
In my experiences hydraulic clutches tend to be much lighter on the pedal than cable ones, Mine is loverly, really light even with a uprated, compared to my Peugeot which is a cable one.
