Steering gets harder after a while

Hello,

It may be just an impression but I feel as if the steering wheel gets harder to turn after a while (after the engine gets to normal temp). Also when doing low speed maneuvers some popping sounds can be heard. tired steering pump or somethin ? Or is this the normal feel of a Vr6 steering ? (mk 3 vr6 2.9 syncro)

After what mileage does the steering fluid needs changing ? Is there a special type or brand that I should use ?

Only use genuine PAS fluid from VW because other stuff will rot your seals in your power steering equipment. I think it's recommended to change steering fluid every 2 years.

what about other fluids should I also get them genuine or something compatible ? And do you know what is the recommended changing period ? (brake fluid, transmission, coolant)

I think it's 2 years for the rest of the fluids apart from engine oil. I change my engine oil every 6000 miles or 6 months, whichever comes first using good quality semi synthetic 5w 30. Changed my brake fluid to Dot 5.1 when I uprated my brakes and the rest of my fluids were replaced with genuine stuff from the dealers.
