VR6Toby 0
Are they an MOT requirement? Is it worth getting rid of them for the hassle the police can cause?
BigSi 0
Yes they are a legal requirement. Doubt the police will stop you but if the MOT guy does his job right he won't pass it without them.I had a old E reg Polo which had the wings replaced by the previous owner but he didn't put the side repeaters on. When I took it for the MOT he wouldn't pass it until they were re-installed.
binliner 0
its a legal requirement to have an indicator flashing on the side of the car... doesnt actually have to be on the wing
MrBen 0
Quite a lot of people are going for the Merc style mirrors with indicators in as a tidy way of losing the lights in the wings.
VR6Steve 0
An indicator has to be visible from the side of the car I believe. So as stated it can be in the door mirror or even a wrap around one on the front corner. (Like on a Mk4/5 Polo for example).
MarkGolf 6
You can do it, come MOT time really take the piss and stretch the cable for the indicator to hang out of the gap between the front wing and oor and that will pass.Or just get a decent MOT guy Im doing it when my cars goes into the b/shop, but MOT's never been a worry
VR6Toby 0
I was thinking of doing that Mark, or setup a temporarily connection inside the car and have it stuck to the inside of the rear quarter window. Or buy some of the Merc style mirrors to use just for MOT's.
acf8181 0
could have sworn i replied to an identical thread to this recently...must have been on another forum.if your car is made after 1986 you have to have side repeaters for MOT....earlier cars don't have to have them (early nova's never did for example)
