Vw_owner 1
hi ,on my corrado i had the engine running whilest i was washing the dust off my bonnet and it suddenly cut out, i first thought that water must of got in some where ? it started back up first time! but now idles badley and the revs is up and down and cuts out on me, i tryed driveing it to warm the engine bay up but every time you take the power off it cuts out and jumps around like a kangaroo!! any ideas ? i would of thought its the isv but it was fine before i washed the bonnet, its got to be water related, btw this happened yesterday so it should be enough time for it to dry out, the previous owner i know had idle an problem but has been fine since i got it, so maybe only when its damp? which electrical connections would cause this? thanks.. bungy 2
I can't see how water would track down the maf lead as it should have a loop in the cable unless it has been cut short at some point.
VR6Pete 1,455
Corrados ain't the best for keeping out water, my ABS ecu is water damaged and that sits inside the car under the passenger side kick plastics! Possible your bonnet is not quite fitting flush and has let water in.
Vw_owner 1
basicaly my maf lead goes around the outside of the strut tower, and the water comes in off the bonnet and around the scuttle tray area and follows down the inside of the wing into the engine bay, covering my battery and tray in water and same with the maf side of the engine and because my maf lead is close to the wing the water gets on it somehow, bonnet fits fine btw all the gaps etc are fine, its deffo the maf because like i said it was flooded and i have to spray the connection with water repelant like wd40 and its spot on after that, tryed turning the maf so the plug is at its highest point so water cant use gravity to get in but the lead needs to be lenghtened,
Alex22 0
just loop the cable before the wire rises back up to the sensor this (drip loop) then stops water from entering the plug and electrical connections
