marky_boy 1
i lifted up the front on the golf by an inch on the coilovers. was told when i brought the car it was 'custom' suspension. i thought this just refered to coilovers but the rears had no thread like coilovers. so asked around an was told to lift up bottom cup and their would be a circlip to move. so just been out this morning to lift it an inch or so. but bottom cup wont move! their is groves for circlip but looks like it has been chucked and cup sat below bottom grove and welded in place. so i removed spring and the top of the spring has been removed. i cant see no branding on the shock/spring. so unsure where to get a new spring from as this would lift it. do you think a generic lowering spring would do? or do i need to swap this 'custom' set up for a new one the gain the height? bungy 2
Sounds like someone has permanantly modified your suspension and you'll need to source new. Pictures would help loads though rather than a description. Wheel is sat forward in the arch and could do with adapter plates to re-centre.
J5KE F 0
It sounds like you have a similar set up to the bora where the rears are adjusted by the lower cup not directly on the spring?? As bungy said pics will help us help you

bungy 2
It would help but not sure of any other underlying problems you may have. It can't help with the wheels that far forward.
CALICO 130
is this a supercharged one i saw recently on the net
marky_boy 1
it isnt supercharged but engine has been rebuilt and fettled to run with one.the only problem i got with the suspension is it rubbing hense why i wanted to lift her, i i can loose alot of the rubbing by centralising the wheels in the arches i may as well do that as i love the way she sits (looks wise) at the moment
