What wheels for the VR6....Dilema's

Recommended Posts

Guys having a bit of a dilema with wheels

Current setup are weitec coilovers, on 16" Keskin KT4's, ET20 offset running 195/40/16's, basically they rub like a bitch and I want ride of them, i'm not prepared to raise the car as such as its not overally low!

My other option is a set of staggered width D90's that I have here, i know nothing about how to fit them, but I presume these will rub just as bad If i swop over the tyres? I think these are perhaps an ET50 offset but would require adapters so pushing the wheel out?

Next option would be TT comps, polished with a 195/40/17 tyre allowing me to go low, hopefully no rubbing? Only downside is, they are slightly bland and iv yet to see a pic of one quite low!

Any other non rubbing/nice stance options out there? Kerschers (sp?) or Azev's?

Kind Regards,

Jason (Confused!)

why not run these then mate ? get some adaptors and they should sit nicely - what are the sizes of them ? adaptors reduce the et so get some 15mm adaptors front and maybe 20mm rear and they should sit nicely and et would then be about right for clearance

got your arches rolled?

you cant stance properly if not cos they have quite a bit lip and most wheels will catch on non rolled arches. Might have to trim the arch liner doww a bit aswel.

D90s come in 7s, 8s and if your lucky 9s. but being porsche they are very adaptor friendly as they have a high offset however unle you go for massive adaptors then 7s tuck no matter what.

D90s do look good but very cliche on a mk3....

Geo on here had TTs compe and it sat quite nice.

plenty of mk3's with an awesome stance without rolled arches mate, it doesnt have to have no tyre to arch gap to be stanced or laying frame to be stanced it just has to look good ! and you defo dont need your arches rolling for that you just need to work harder ;)

TT Comps do suit a mk3 really well and are pretty much in as much abundance as the d90's - colour coded or polished they both work a treat :)

but then isnt your car just low? low is not stance!

if i didnt have my arches rolled, my arches would be constantly on the tyres and i wouldnt be as low as i am now cos the wheels would have to sit in more.

ANYONE can make wheels tuk its whether you can make it look good tucked.

you could have the best wheels in the world, but having ill correct stance will make the overall finish look gash.

no mate that's what I said - it doesnt have to be low to be stanced at all ! too many peeps are obsessed with getting the car as low as possible but then often the wheels look gash inmo - better to have it sitting at a nicer ride height, space the wheels correctly and then you can actually drive the car !

Im not a fan of arch gap. The least arch gap the better for me. If done correctly you can get it as low as possible and still take it everywhere. But its not as simple as just bolting on wheels and winding coilies down as low as they can go.

Theres alot of number crunching to do to work out ET, width of the wheels and tyre sizes.

I had the front arches sat just above the rim protector and it very rarely caught. the backs weremnt sat quite as low but it very rarely caught.

true but it depends on what you want to do with the car ! I dont like having to avoid speed bumps etc so I dont run my cars as low as I could but I do have them looking right - and yeah getting a car low is simple but getting it looking good isn't I agree :)

this was just before I got rid of mine - had got the rears sat right but the front needed more work but it was nearly there ! but as said I loved to drive the car and take passengers and camping gear etc so didn't want it crazy low :)

couldnt agree more mate :) plus getting obsessed with one aspect of the car generally means others fall behind ! an overall package is a much more rounded better car inmo
