heated seat repair.(radio code)

planning a heated seat element replacement on the 4motion,I could easilly live without it but as its the only thing on the car that isnt working I kind of feel obliged to fix it.

Problem is ,apparantly its best to disconnect the negative battery lead before removing a front seat so as not to end up with a air bag warning light being illuminated when you have finished the job, trouble is I cant seem to find the radio code anywhere. Is there anyway round not knowing the code for the radio, without having to take the car to a dealer ( im guessing that would still be cheaper than taking it to vw with the air bag light on!)

i took the drivers seat out of my 4mo without disconecting the battery and had no warning lights come on or air bags going off
