spadam 7
I have a medium sized dent in my drivers side sill towards the rear wheel. Whats the best way to remove this dent. Can it be accessed frm inside and beaten out. Im not after show winning results just want to remove It and touch up some of the paintwork.
bungy 2
If it can not be accessed from anywhere near you can drill small pilot holes in strategic places and screw in self tapping screws to use to pull out the dent. Very small welds to seal the holes. You my only need one or 2 holes.Another way is it to degrease the area and use a hot glue gun to stick dowels on to use to pull. Benefit of this is you can heat the glue to remove and keep repositioning until it is done.Get a photo up so we can see.

bungy 2
Might be possible without putting any holes in but wouldn't be able to tell until I saw it.

bungy 2
That's not a dent that's a crator.. There is a lot of stretch in there but it should pull most of the way out and then maybe a very thin skim to finish.
spadam 7
lol yea it is rather large. Only want to pop it out a bit if its possible. What would be the best way to do this. Wernt sure if you can access behind it to hammer it out.
bungy 2
You could grind off the paint to bare metal and tack weld on a series of bolts to pull on and try to pop it back out. Or drill some holes and use a slide hammer and self tappers.
spadam 7
Sounds complicated and out of my skill level. How much would a bodyshop charge roughly.
bungy 2
Not sure on cost as I never use them for that kind of stuff. Only use them for paint when I have to.

bungy 2
As long as you treat the reverse side then pulling out and welding up is the way ahead. Adam hasn't made it round yet to get this sorted but his is possible.
marky_boy 1
i was going to waxoyl the whole car once i have sorted it out, i got a lance so i can get in all the sills chassis rails and anywhere else i need to.
bungy 2
Some make the mistake a doing a weld repair and not treating the reverse and the rust comes back really quick. Well worth getting some wax oil in there.
marky_boy 1
not treating the rear is absolutly stupid!!! might aswell glue on a bit of plastic as it'll last as long lol!!!!
