trackman 0
Was wondering what advice anyone had on Mk3 VR6 Golf brakes.I've just bought a '93 car to use as a track toy !amazed (no road use) and the brakes (discs and pads) need replacing. I don't want to shell out for new standard discs and pads if they're not going to take the punishment on the track.Anyone have any views on how the standard setup performs and whether there are any recommended brake mods.Rich
acf8181 0
ias you have an early vr6 it has 280mm brakes, the later vr6's and gti's have 288mm.you need calipers, carriers, and flexi hoses, then its a straight swap...providing they fit under you wheels (shouldn't be a prob unless you have very early o.e. dished bbs style ones)then most trackday peeps use genuine proper vw discs, with uprated pads (pagid fast raod are quite popular), and uprated fluid.if you wanna go further there are brembo 4 pot conversions, tho these only fit under 17" wheels...and designa dubs are currently working on a 280mm prosche 4 pot conversion for 15". trackman 0
Thanks acf8181.I've just mailed designa dubs about the 280mm Brembos. They sound ideal. Hopefully they'll have the kit finished soon.Rich
VRmonster 1
hmmm, that sounds quite appealing, i fancy some brembos but also want some bbs splits in 15/16" guise.
