Tie rod end?

Quick question?

Had my wheels, laser alignment done (computer) recently, apart from the nearside front wheel. The guys could not get the nut undone on the tie rod? I need to get a new tie rod. Also, do I need to get a Track Rod End?

Are these parts very expensive?

well, if he can't unod the nut you'll have to replace the whole tie rod inc tie rod end, as the bit he can't undo is how you would remove the tie rod end.

surprising he can't undo it, so maybe try elsewhere first.

I've had the same problem with my off-side! The garage I used actually heated up the nut and it eventually came loose.

I've had the whole tie rod replaced before, it's about a 2hour job and I think I payed around £80 for the tie rod. (that's eurocar parts price)

Yeah 2 guys done the same thing, they heated up the nut with a blow torch and couldn't get the nut undone.

My friend is a mechanic who is going to fix it anyway, I see what he can do before replacing it.

My nut is rounded. Original part is £80 but GDF do one for 25 ish from memory, but ive been told that the cheap ones are a bit still and will creak for a while.

Just had the whole parts (tie rod and tie rod end) replaced, £40 including fitting!

Had the 4 wheels laser aligned and computer print out, which cost £24 including VAT.

£24 seems cheap for a 4 wheel alignment, was it a Beissbarth type of machine that did the alignment?

Well it was supposed to be £47, but I got it for £24.
