Ben Seabrook 4
thanks very much for the info Abi how much of that total was the car hire ?also on another note how come your not at Action ?
b19drg 0
Go for as long as you can' date=' is my advice... We go for the whole week, including a few days before it all starts properly. Reifnitz is very quiet then but there are lots of little forum/club meetings around, we came across a cracking meeting of Rallye Golfs and stuff at the Pyramidenkogel days before the event. Some people do go home before it all starts properly, but there's just so much there that you would never know you'd missed out, on the main days the traffic all around is just full of motors....The dates for 2011 are the 1-4 June... However as i said the show starts about a week/10days before with mini meets... so its totally up to you when you go... we leave the Friday before the show so next year it will be Friday 27th may... and then leave the Saturday 4th about 10pm to start the trip home so we can be back in work for the Monday. Unlike in England they do not have a show on the Sunday....but we aware The Germans do love to party, and don't really seems to have a noise curfew... but it's not like pissed-up English tourists abroad, it's noisy and all that but it's not aggressive or violent, I've never once felt intimidated about walking around in the evenings amongst crowds of people. It's ace.... We stay in a self-catered guest house in one of the villages around the lake, called Pörtschach am Wörthersee. But theres campsites all around, and B&B's and Hotels too....there's a lake shuttle boat or speed boat taxis to help get around if you can't be doing with driving tooWith regards to accommodation check out www.woerthersee.comThe journey takes about 18-20 hours non-stop going via the Tunnel, although we tend to break it up these days... staying in stuttgart or munich and visiting a motor museum... like BMW, Merc, Porsche etc etc... We have pretty much done them all so I can tell you more if you wanna know.... and the same again on the way home.... This year we covered 2700 miles in the week which included a LOT of cruising round the lake!.... Diesel is much cheaper than Petrol... Fill up in Austria, and Belgium.. rather than France or Germany... and like the UK off the Motorways is cheaper The total cost of the holiday came to just under £600 each.. that was based on 4 people. It included the Diesel Touran Hire Car, Fuel, Crossing, House in Austria, hotels on route, food, Tolls and the Austria Motorway tax...Pretty much most of the Beer and the entry to the show which is 10 euros for the 4 days....However you could spend much much more...you have to pay to use the toilets... but they are ALWAYS clean as they have a person outside.Eating out isn't too bad either... couple of euro for chips... or we paid 8 euro for a really nice home made pizza within Reifnitz.Beer is cheap in the supermarkets too.. under a euro for 1/2 litre Not sure what else you wanna know.... [/b']Sounds Awsome , Its gonna be a tough choice this or the ring !
Ben Seabrook 4
Sounds Awsome ' date=' Its gonna be a tough choice this or the ring ! Abi 0
thanks very much for the info Abi how much of that total was the car hire ?also on another note how come your not at Action ?From memory...The car hire was £550.00' date=' that was for a brand new 10 plate Diesel Touran from my local VW Dealer (Wayside Milton Keynes) it was unlimited mileage and came with full euro breakdown... also 3 named drivers. Which I thought was a really good deal for 10 days and a 7 seater... but was great for the 4 of us.... Also we never worried about it.... Tunnel crossing £100 Hotels and House came in about £900 Fuel, tolls and Motorway Tax was about £300 rest went on Food and beer for the house.... Not gone to Action this year.... Split is off the road and only running the fabia for MSA race meetings... so not got anything to run and not a fan of Christmas.... so a couple of is thought we would pop up to E38 for the day on sunday instead to see.... not been since the very first meeting at Billing which was a few years ago now... Ben Seabrook 4
nice one Gavalar well I guess peeps need to decide if they want to do this or the Ring or both then and then we can see what the general consensus is and make a decision - although as mentioned earlier we could always go for a bit longer and combine the two !! bungy 2
Sounds like it could be a one off trip that would be worth the extra effort and careful planning.
