russj249 2
you'll need to drop the suspension leg off to do it really. not a hard job at all, top mount nut can be a bugger to undo without damper turning, but will come off with an air gun, 2 x 18mm bolts on hub and you're pretty much done. will need tracking and camber doing unless you mark exactly where the 18mm bolts go
Nex 17
^^^What he said Do Mk3's not have the allen key hole in the top of the strut to stop it spinning when you undo the nut??
ashmk3 0
Mine does well my coilovers do and it's the very popular 7mm Allen on mine.
DanH 1
yea standard shocks have that allen key to stop it spinning too
russj249 2
yep they do have an allen key in the top, but if it's anything like mine, with normal hand tools it'll just scrap the allen key or shock. There was so much lock-tite from the factory on the top bolt I couldn't shift it.I took mine to work and a good air gun will get it off it seconds without having to faff around with the allen key bits. bungy 2
I undo them with the weight of the car on it's wheels and then use an airgun which works really well. Then when both are off jack the car up and place on stands.
