Special K 81 0
There's budget coilovers like JOM, Jamex etc for between 160 odd to 200,you kinda know its a slight upgrade from standard, hadling wise and massively on looks but hardly expect weitec/av etc standard... but is this going tooo budget...however 3 years warranty when the other bdget ones have 2 yearshttp://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Coilover-Suspension-Kit-VW-Golf-III-/160463712833?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item255c61f241
Ben Seabrook 4
I wouldnt buy them based on the fact that they dont discriminate between models - you cant make a kit deisgned to be good for a 1.3 and a VR !!
Special K 81 0
True ben....i was thinking this with the jom ones i was looking at says along the lines o 1.6/1.8/2.0t/di/vr6...was thinking if its all one fit why pay more money cos you have a vr6...are you just being ripped off!?!??!
Ben Seabrook 4
well its more the fact they cant get the right spring weight for all those models inmo you need one designed for the VR as its obviously a bit more nose heavy than the others - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/COIL-OVER-COILOVER-VW-GOLF-MK3-VR6-ADJUST-SUSPENSION-/400134587922?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5d29e14612 these Hot Tuning ones are the cheapo ones that loads of peeps run

YOur opinion on them!???who the hell are hot tuning?? i was thinking jom as german...cant really go wrong with german and those i posted here are belgium,vw scene there is pretty decent to inst it and german springs etc
Ben Seabrook 4
well been in a few cars running them and they seemed pretty decent and as said loads and loads of people run them and say they represent good value for money. Hot Tuning are just a Belgium tuning shop I think !!

Might have a set of JOM bluelines lined up with VR6 Gill on here for 160 delivered, just looking at hot tunning ones and now just perrusing he jamex thread which all the guys on there are bigging up. Thanks though john...v-max anygood??
spadam 7
There not bone shakingly hard but definetly stiff. Obviously not as comfortable as standard or high end coilovers.
ashmk3 0
When I brought the mk3 with the original 8v gti in it came on hot tuning coilovers. I then put the vr engine into the mk3 and kept the coilovers and to be honest there holding up pretty well, yes there slighty softer but I anything it feels more reaponsive. Only upgrade I did on suspension so far is vr top mounts. Now I'm not saying go and buy them and buy ones for an 8v but thought I would give you some feedback on them. Lukey. 381
Wasnt a popular suspension mod to keep the stiffer VR6 springs to take the weight of the engine and put the harder GTI dampers on? As the VR6 dampers were more motorway cruiser than B road thrasher? Talking of the standard items i mean.
AJmk2 2
Depends what you want from your coilovers , unless your intending to do track days might as well go for the budget stuff
Special K 81 0
Thanks guys...as i said not expecting outstanding performance from a set under 200 tbh, but iv a bent shock and im sure if you replaced for standard shocks it would cost as much as the coilovers so makes sense to go coilies route
ashmk3 0
That's the same reason the bloke I brought the gti off put coilovers on. It failed the mot before I brought it on buggered shocks. So he brought the coilovers and I got a good deal lol
Special K 81 0
Cant fault it...any coilies are goin to be better than standard shocks anywho
