Timing chain replacement

I have a 1992 mk3 vr6 golf at 99000 miles and am thinking that the timing chain may need replacing. I have been quoted in excess of a grand for it to be done by a garage and am thinking of doing it myself. My question is how hard is it to replace them.

if u've always done ur own work then u should be ok, jus double or treble check everything!

If your pretty good with the spanners and have the right tools its not that bad of a job like danh says check check and then check it again

yep did my upper guides and tensioner n bolt all from the premium members section
