A year of VR ownership and club membership

Recommended Posts

I went to TPS today and bought some service items for my 4mo. New top mounts, oil and filter, cabin filter and fuel filter. While I knuckled down this afternoon and got them all fitted I started to think of all the little jobs i've done this year and how much i've enjoyed owning the car. I've owned over 50 cars over the years and most of which have been performance based but I am still smitten with my Golf.

After trading in my mk3 cabby and collecting the mk4 I payed my money and became a premium member. Mt first introduction to everyone was at Billing last year and I was made to feel very welcome. Santa Pod, Fighting torque and no-rice all followed, and all introduced to me by that strange and illussive fella VRStig.

The winter passed loads of minor jobs completed and the new season seemed to take forever. Eventually the main event and the trip to the Nurburg Ring which was a first for me and complimented by fantastic company and full of drama.

So far this year in addition to the Nurburg Ring i've been snowed in my tent at Santa Pod (who's idea was that?) and many more bits and pieces have happened along the way.

In 11 months and still counting i've fitted a new miltek exhaust, fabricated my own decats, fitted AP suspension all round, front discs and pads, BMC CDA, top mounts, New stereo, speakers and aerial, painted and fitted Audi alloys, colour coded VW badges and removed all others, camber correction bushes on the rear and dog bone mount on the front. Serviced the haldex, gearbox flush, fuel and cabin filter, 4 oil changes and fitted 6k HIDs, 6 new coil packs and polished it to an inch of it's life.

I've been helped along the way with endless advice from fellow members and supported and helped by Jake and Paul. C2 helped me out of a really sticky situation with my ECU and came out to my house at short notice on a Sunday evening. Leaving only when they were confident my car was tip top.

I suppose what i'm trying to say is three fold. Firstly thank you all for making a petrol head very happy and for all the support and help. Secondly and quite importantly this is the longest i've owned a daily driver that doubles as my hobby and last but not least, how do I renew my membership as i'm sure it must be due soon?

Oh and how strange. Randomly bumping into an old mate who I use to ride motorbikes with and came to my house to help out a fellow club member by running VCDS to check for faults. Cheers Russ.
