daxmatt 0
Hello all, im after some help with this one, sorry if its been done to death but couldnt find it, I have just bought a 93 aaa passat vr6 wagon with auto box code cff, the box is knackered and given the boxes are nearly 2 grand I dont want to repair the auto, I want to do a manual conversion and im well aware of what it needs to be done, the plan is buy a mk3 vr6 golf and strip all the bits I need the idea being I have all parts to hand on a full car, but I want to make sure that the box will mate up, so bassically will any vr box fit any vr engine and what is the diffence between codes as even though I would infact have a spare engine I would like to use the original engine the car came with, given how rare the car is its not really an option to just buy a manual lolcheers matt

Rikki 2
Any vr6 specific box will fit the engine physically. Slighly different ratios is the difference. Whether it will fit straight in a Passat i dont know!!
DanH 1
yea should do....known of donar passats being used for mk2 swaps etc so should all jus bolt straight up. i thought all the mk3 and 'rado boxes the same ratio, bellhousing, mounts etc? sure jus the selector and code that differs on the 'rados. reckon if u comfortable with doing the full auto to manual swap then u'll easily sort any probs along the way! gd luck! Flagbuggy 0
Hi I am a noob but have a S4 audi and a 2003 2Lturbo Passat and the new beetle Vr6T so by comparring them all The golf box will not work in the Passat as the passat box bolt to the "BACK" of the Vr motor with the CV`s going out on the sides 90Deg to the flywheel of the VR Where the Golf box the CV`s sit parrallel to the flywheel of the Vr SO Sorry mate that one I dont think will work As mentioned rather be on the lookout for the manual Passat box but only the VR one as the bolt patern on 4cyl and VR are different
