cunningham 0 Posted April 28, 2010 Report Share Posted April 28, 2010 Hi got a rattly tappety noise coming from the engine ive not investigated it yet to find out what side and where its comin from anyone got any ideas it sounds like the cold start noise but even when warmi know thats very vague in description but ideally things to check would be great. what grade of oil does the v6 run on i checked the dipstick and it looked very thin Link to post Share on other sites
Miss-Vw 2 Posted April 29, 2010 Report Share Posted April 29, 2010 I use 10w/40 grade in my VR. Try changing the oil to see if this helps, if not it could be the tappets that are getting a bit noisey - which doesnt cost too much to fix. Alot of people confuse tappet noise with timing chains, so its important you get it looked at to decipher whether it's something that's a bit more serious. Link to post Share on other sites
