Ben Seabrook 4
is this just to run to your air filter mate ?
baz8328 0
Yes . But i was goin to run one the other side to keep the 6 Branch cooler . Its heat wrapped but thought it maybe a good idea !What do you think ?
xyber 1
Nah, you want the 6 branch hot, but not radiating to the bay so just heat wrap is spot on. Cold air feed isn't worth the effort, it gains nothing on N/A really, even with a BMC it just changes the noise abit
Rikki 2
b&q do it....meant for washing machines lol
Ben Seabrook 4
mmmmm might work but not sure it would make much difference to the 6-branch and have read various claims about cold air to the air filter tbh ! I have never bothered but it's relatively easy to run some silicone pipe http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/51mm-2-ID-Silicone-Silicon-Hose-Pipe-1-Metre-Black-1M_W0QQitemZ310197337040QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item483933bbd0 towards the air filter. I did look at getting some bonnet risers to keep the temps down and didn't find any designed for mk3's but might have a go at making some
VR6Pete 1,455
Vince did some tests when BMC CDA's were newish, a rolling road test with the cold air feed, and one without...there was practically no gains what so ever with the cold air feed. There would be many people who didnt use there airfeed pipe for the BMC CDA for this reason, so maybe a wanted post is in order if you really want one, but personally, its not worth the effort
bungy 2
I've used my cold air intake for my BMC CDA and kept it as short and direct as possible forward facing. At speed this has to have an effect. Pressure and temperature of induced air will be different. Bhp may not rise massively but torque and fuel economy will change. IMO..... Phat VR6 3
if you remove the factory cold air feed from the air box you can feel a drop in power on hot summer day or when sitting in traffic... not saying your going to gain anything but VW suck air from outside the engine bay for a reason
nivag27 5
One thing I will say is that......on my corrado I have a BMC CDA and with a cold air feed it is very quiet but with out it it sounds like a beast
craggsy 91
I had the cold air feed on mine when i first bought my BMC but then it got dragged under my phat 9x16s and i never replaced it and always ran the same except with more noise
