rodney 17
Right this may be a little controversial.. and is not directed at anyone...We (the UK) are sitting here moaning about the snow and how crap the government and councils are...Well I have some thoughts on this and really feel we should take some responsability...The government etc... Right we want snow blowers/salt/all roads open... Is it me or does no one actually realise we can have those things - we just have to pay more in taxes and charges... But who wants to pay more??? Which leads me on to the key area... the peasents out there...yup - you and I.. It tends to snow every year - almost seasonal I find..... So why do we not have winter tyres/chains etc etc etc. - - - -Oh help me I'm stuck.... So do you have a shovel to dig yourself out? No! Do you have a mat in the car to drive on to get you going??? No! Are you freezing???? Yes!!! So why are you in your flip-flops and a sun hat????etc etc etcFor goodness sake learn to drive in weather other than bright sunshine with the roof down (this is aimed at several regions... Individuals aside) and get the right tools for the job... (driving is a tool not as a tool)How is it that in a country where we are going to get every form of weather on the planet every year(thank you gulf stream) we can not be prepared as individuals??? I ask you????Thank you for your time...
craggsy 91
I am tempted to by some cheap wheels and put some winter tyres on to sit in the garden till needed....bit late now tho me thinks
jims13 6
people need to leave the gritters alone if the travelling public paid more attention to the conditions in which they travel then you wouldnt get some of the problems..grit aint cheap, and doing 12 + hour days gritting aint no fun the constant media abuse towards concils and it employee's needs to stop.btw, i do think we should fit winter tyres , its law in most other european countrys , just not blighty.. cabrioman 6
i think its all down to the over paid under worked gritter drivers and the highways agency managers laying around or on the net while the are meant to be at work that cause all the porbs ..... lol (joke jim)

bungy 2
People just don't adapt to the conditions in this country for some reason. I live on a hill and was out with the kids this afternoon. The whole road is thick with ice and snow and a car went down the road at speed. I walked to the end of my drive in time to see it go over the "T" junction at the bottom and into someones wall. I carried on with the snowman we were making.
thegoth 5
last time i tried none of my local tyre places sold winter tyres.I do have chains though. a blacket / mat, extra winter screen wash, torch and gas stove ready to go if I do need to travel in these conditions. Luckily I still don't ;-)

J5KE F 0
I have 4wd, shovel; tow rope, hi vis, boots and tools and not just for the winter..I have to admit though, I wouldn't like to be driving in anything else at the moment! Most people aren't prepared cos they are typical 9-5 office / admin who don't have a clue how to control a car in a skid or wheel spin situation. The girls in my office parped them selves driving home on Monday nite and haven't been back to work yet! Mind u they don't even drive on motorways! Going back on topic with the gritters and councils, what exactly is grit going to do on snow?? And the majority of the main roads are free and running but they canot be responsible for clearing driveways and back streets.. That should be down to the people that live there. I have dumped grit and salt out the front of my house and on the drive to help the street I bet most of the people who are moaning haven't?
jims13 6
the grit will only work down to around minus 15 ish. but if trafic doesnt run on it, then it willjust ice over again.
Jamesr_VR6 0
i will be buying chains when funds allow,This type of weather never bothers me, i adapt to iti choose different routes that dont include hills etc.But im getting sick of sat in jams caused by people getting stuck on the poxiest of small inclinesSo i shall buy chains so when that occurs i can sail on past themBut i also dont know what many people complain about, if you cant drive in these conditions then you shouldnt have a license IMHO, its not like england has only been getting snow for the last 5 years is it?
