When do you activate water injection

Recommended Posts

from memory

it can vary depending on when you want it to really..

You need a guage/tool/footpump to fit to see when it operates (at least during installation) vs your engine revs and at what psi/bar level you have of charge. I have mine set to come on at around 0.3bar/4psi. (running stage2 8-9psi/0.6bar)

However it is one of those things that is worth talking to your preferred local tuning specialist about in detail. I notice you are from Denmark.... normally we would suggest you talk to Vince at Stealth in the UK. So maybe worth trying him for a call at least, if your happy to :D

If you are running a mix of methanol aswell then this can effect the settings and even your map.

I have mine set of a switch in the dash so I dont have it on all the time. My map allows for it to run with or with out. I use a methanol mix of 10% to bring the percentage of fuel back up to ensure no loss of power etc. More about extending the engine life/managing the temperatures when needed for me.

hope it helps

Thanks for the replies.

What is the output of our engine with water injection? And did you experience any draw bags regarding engine performance?

I'm very excited about trying water injection. Currently my car is producing 260PS and 340nm / 251 lbf with a Rotrex C30-84 at around 0,5 bar / 7.25psi.

around the same figures. I tend only to use it in very hot summer months as a method of managing my temperatures in the piston rather than a power set up. Your map is important. so always worth redoing correctly for your individual set up... Rolling road

The main draw draw back is ensuring you have enough on you for that long weekend away. Carrying Methanol and distilled water everywhere is a pain... Hence my final option.. Also with aquamist you need to disable if no water otherwise it burns out. So you need to add a little micro switch in your water container.. The system works and is competant - just not robust as it must always be primed and have pressure..

There is a supercharging FAQ sticky thread in engine tuning (may be premium membership) that has links to sites that discuss the systems...
