Aval01 0
My enthusiastic mechanic is offering to remap my 140 bhp Caravelle camper 2.9 VR6 to 180 or more. Apart from the increase in power and torque (I'm interested in towing a boat), are there any benefits or costs in fuel terms?
RIX 0
needs abit more than a remap for that try getting golf camsiam no sure that you need the head from the golf, but you can get 174/180 when converting to golf spec
Aval01 0
Apparently it's mechanically ready for the remap as it's the Golf engine... But, as you can guess, I'm not the expert, so I'll double check. Thanks for the response. Any thoughts on the economy question?
Rikki 2
Its not mehcanically the same as a golf....as RIX said think its the cams and some other bits that make it different!
Antihero1981 8
i was told that it had different cams to de-power it by a friend who owned one, he said he changed to the golf cams to bring power up and then induction kit + remap .got about 190bhp i think...not bad for a people carrier. Aval01 0
"...de-power it"! bloody 'ell, it goes like the proverbial off a shovel now! Could do with the extra torque though for towing...
slim5878 1
the only diffrence is the head gasket its thinner same as the sharan so it runs at a higher compression
