Slipping clutch??

Recommended Posts

I figured I'd give tony a break from the phone calls this time. He's been an angel helping me out with problems.

Right, as it stands, my speedo/rev sensor is faulty after I removed it a few days back. Can the sensor being faulty have any efffect on the idle speed or engine revs?

I've also been burning my clutch to bits, to the point where after a 12 mile journey of hardly any acceleration, there was smoke coming from the underside of my bellhousing.

The engine will rev up to however many revs but you can hear the engine struggling and dipping as the clutch intermitantly and scarcley grips.

As far as I'm aware, this means I'll need to remove the gbox yet again. Is there any chance that it is oil/grease on the flywheel or friction plate or an even bigger problem?

Thats what I figure has happened. I drove her on 3/4 out of 6 cylinders for 24 miles the other night.....so I could get my better half home off a motorway without spending hours sat in the rain at the edge of it.

Given the vibrations, I'm guessing the oil seal might have come apart.

There is oil, but coming from the sump near the plug and not from the bell housing as you would expect.
