russj249 2
Is there anything to stop me from putting pure de-icer in my washer bottle??Was thinking now it's getting cold it'd clear the windscreen easier but also not freeze in the tank as well as me not scraping at the screen just blast it!I know my VR has got heated washer nozzles but that's not much use if it's frozen in the bottle! MarksMintness 0
Not sure mate, I'm not sure if it's kind on the body work to be honest! A little might not hurt but pure de-icer? Most washer fluids have anti-freeze so in them anyway!
Jamesr_VR6 0
As above,De-icer of any kind is not good for bodyworkAlthough the paint and laquer are dry their will still be moisture in it that when cold it freezes, so obviously getting de-icer on it will muck the paint up
russj249 2
ok then.. think i'll just put a strong screenwash mix in and try that.
rodney 17
read the can there fella. they all say use a cloth and wipe off your bodywork in really really really small letters on them.Unless you can wire a little kettle element in to the bottle then a mix (as per the instructions on the bottle) is as good as it gets... If you scrape your screen rather than use a de-icer then it stays ice less as there is no moisture left on the screens. it just means you have to get out 5 mins earlier.. Iknow the duvet is warm but.... Also whilst you are scraping - the car gets warm and melts the washer water and heats the screens so when you get in you are all cosy.. If you have kids they can scrape it whilst you sit in it... even better
bungy 2
Or put it in the garage and no scraping necessary.
rodney 17
if i had a garage my car wouldnt look like it does... LOL
MarksMintness 0
Yeah I generally use spray on de-icer and whack the heater on full on the windscreen! The best solution I've seen is in my humble Focus - the Ford Quickclear Windscreen - one buttone clears the screen of ice in about 45 seconds!
DanH 1
ive relocated my washer bottle to the boot, cleans the bay up a bit and being in the car it dont freeze so easy to do as well
