hi first ov all ill say sorry if this has already bin coverd.

i'v just finished my second vr6 engine swap and got every thing finished only problem is it wont start. i turn the key an after 1 or 2 turns fires up perfectly but then instantly dies.

iv been readin up on it an seems 2 be that the transponder could be causeing it is this true?

is the transponder an chip matched 2 the ecu becuae i thought that it was just the chip an transponder that was matched because im use the transponder and key from the old car with the new engines ecu so if the ecu is matched then this should be wats causeing it?

also the only thing that makes me think thats not wats causeing it is that the ignition lights dont light up when the ignitions on or does the ecus immobiliser stop them from coming on?

sorry to ask so many questions but if anybody could help i would be very greatful as im dieing 2 drive an hear my vr6 again :-(

The ecu requires a signal from the transponder control box which is connected to the chip reader that surrounds the ign. Barrell. This can be paired to the ecu using vag com immobiliser and pairing. I have more details on the exact procedures in my notes so if you or any1 else need info just pm me ;)

Mines is doing this too, was fine once MOTd for about a week and back to how it was before. Had to take the whole day off work last week as it refused to start.

Will turn teh key will rev upto 1k then dies this can go on for hours then will just burst into life and run like there has been no problem at all.

I've had it upto Star who replaced the MAF for me (now getting better MPG) but they said that my immobiliser is causing the problem but other people have told me it could be the crankshaft sensor.

Any help would be appreciated as it's been off the road for about a year and am dying to get it fixed so i can use it as my daily driver again, i miss the VR roar.

hi thanks 4 replys, iv brought a new matchin ecu, transponder, chip, an chip reader. still nothing hasnt helped it atall :(.

iv also read that it could be the ingnition barral/swith that could be knackerd?

also i dont understand why the warning lights/ignition lights dont come on. the dials an every thing work as the rev gauge jumps when it fires up 4 the second that it does.

im desperate any more help/ info would be great
