Hi everyone. I have a full supersprint system fitted with no CAT, but MOT time is approaching and having no CAT is gonna be a pain. I've still got my old exhaust and cat, just wondering how simple it is to get the cat fitted again and what changes i will notice when it's fitted. I'm gonna have to pay to get the supersprint taken off, old system put back on just to get thru MOT, so i might as well just get the CAT fitted permanently instead. Anyone else had this problem/dilemma? Thanks - j

Having no CAT is not an MOT failure......it's only a failure if your car fails on emissions, so if you leave the CAT off and the emissions are within the limits then its passed.

But, the likelyhood of it passing the emissions without a CAT is slim i'd say.

There's not much invloved in changing the CAT.

- 3 bolts hold the front part of the CAT to the downpipe.

- The Lambda Sensor screws into the CAT

- The rear end of the CAT slides into/over the joining exhaust.

Tp get it fitted shouldn't cost more than £20, if you didn't want to do it yourself.

You can get any good exhaust specialist to fab up a flanged replacement for the sliding joint part at the back of the cat. Thats the hardest bit to get off especially if its been together for a while.

I had one made up - and changing the cat was a breeze after that - just a total of 5 bolts and the lambda probe, and off it came.

Lads! I think my cat maybe on it´s way out so was thinking of getting the de-cat link pipe for my supersprint. Been checking out some the comments and not sure whether it´s a good idea or not. MOT not a problem, but it´s the sacrificing torque over top end power that I´m more concerned about. Whats eveyones opinion.
