gra987 0
WHEN IGNITION IS SWITCHED OFF, I CAN HEAR A BUZZING SOUND COMING FROM THE WATER PUMP AREA. THIS ALSO DRAINS THE BATTERY.I HAVE ALSO NOTICED THAT IT DRAINS THE WATER FROM THE HEADER TANK.HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS PROBLEM? WOULD APPRECIATE ANY IDEAS.MANY THANKSGRAHAM
chrisgbrindley 0
I think its supposed to work after the engine turns off but usually stops after a few minuites once the engines cooled down its probably got a shitty tempreture sender. Its called an after run water pump by some people. It shoudnt drain any water though.
mickelson 0
I am almost certain that the aux pump is supposed to run on after you have turned off the ignition (mine does). This is to allow your coolant to circulate around the engine to cool it quicker and prevent too much heat soak after switching off!! It certainly shouldnt be draining the header tank though. Are you sure it is at its correct level in first place. If your battery has drained so much, you may have a current drain somewhere else in the electrics possibly not related to this. hope this helps (a little) Mick
gra987 0
Thanks for replying. It seems the problem has sorted itself out!?? It now switches off when engine has been turned off. Must be a dodgy connection somewhere. Keeping an eye on the header tank because I'm sure water was being lost. Might be a completely different problem.
VR6Pete 1,455
if there are no visable signes of coolant leaking, then check your headgasket at a first port of call!
