loubyvr6 0
ok, feeling realy fed up now, ive owned my vr for about 5 months, for 10 of the first 12 weeks of ownership it was getting warrantied work done to it, and has never realy run right since, after a few weeks of what seems to be the common problem of running lumpy and stalling, in which time ive replaced sparkys, leads, cleaned isv etc etc its now running worse than ever.i cant help but think why did i buy such a old temperamental car, instead of a golf 1.8t!someone please remind me before i lose my patience and get rid of it. :-(
Jamesr_VR6 0
The thing i think you will findbest is never send a vag back to the dealer/garage under a warranty as they will never fix it and keep you going back again and again which is costing you time and money,When in doubt take it to a vag specialist like stealth racing or storm developements. These guys live and breath VAG cars and will have it sorted in next to no time and save you lots of heartache and money!!! mike 6
have you replaced the coilpack? i got a cheap second hand one and sorted the above symptoms...but i agree the garage should sort it, threaten them with legal action?
craggsy 91
Agree with the above. Specialists are the best places to go. Been Storm a few times, Midland VW a few times and Stealth once....all gave top notch advice. I only use dealers for spare parts
VR6Pete 1,455
Specialists all the way! Go to Stealth Racing Sounds like it needs sticking on the VAG-COM the problems you are having seem quite common, but dealers/regular garage wont know how to fix them.Give Vince a call, tell him Pete from VR6OC has sent you his way, his number is 01926 812259.on the Golf 1.8T front, my sister had one, and was that unreliable she got shut of it, fault codes and faults left right and centre, with mechanical and electrical problems, and they sound nothing like a Golf VR6 either!! loubyvr6 0
just ordered a VAG-COM, so will see what that brings up, but getting so fed up now ill probably just admit defeat and take it to a specialist, stealth is not far so thanks for pointing me in their direction.your right about the sound of the vr6, i need to remind myself that the 1.8t is sooooo common compared to my corrado lolas for legal action against the garage, i doubt i would get anywhere with it, its better to just cut my losses and try to fix the car myself now. VR6Pete 1,455
is there nobody who's close to you on this list?: http://www.vr6oc.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?146266 to run it through for you? Yeah, just speak to vince first, he will probably give you some really useful advise over the phone anyway.
The Monk 50
Keep the car and get it sorted mate. I've taken the prize as one of the most, if not the most unlucky person on here with regards to VR6 reliability.Never gove up and never surrender!

Ben Seabrook 4
ok' date=' feeling realy fed up now, ive owned my vr for about 5 months, for 10 of the first 12 weeks of ownership it was getting warrantied work done to it, and has never realy run right since, after a few weeks of what seems to be the common problem of running lumpy and stalling, in which time ive replaced sparkys, leads, cleaned isv etc etc its now running worse than ever. i cant help but think why did i buy such a old temperamental car, instead of a golf 1.8t! someone please remind me before i lose my patience and get rid of it. :-( [/quote'] ah I know this feeling well in the few years since I have had mine about every 6 months or so I go through a phase of hating it and wanting it to get rid of it !! but then I get the problem fixed drive it for a while and all is good in the world - they are a bit tempramental but the thing I always forgot is it's a 15 year old car so some of the components are bound to start failing it's only natural so once you have started to work on it and get it the way you want it should hopefully return you with another 15 years of happy motoring and as said above there is nothing like the noise and performance of these cars for the same money
