936.2 mile round trip, 4 countries, 2 vw's and 1 day...and what an awesome day it was!!!

We are looking into various options and prices at the moment. Obviously, the one in question has had alot of work done to it so the cost of that stage will be quite alot, however, we are planning to do a budget level as well. I will update once prices are confirmed.

Sounds like a good trip guys :) Kevin were you happy with that figure ? were they a bit conservative with the map ?

I'm very happy with it mate. The quoted figure for a ZR Stage 1 set up is 250bhp and I've been told by NS tuning that SLS rollers tend to give slightly lower readings than those in the UK so we'll see if there's any difference when I do a RR day or the like here. As far as being conservative with the Map' date=' I'd have to say not. They mapped it for driveability and for all round power so the figure doesn't mean as much to me as how it drives and it does that a whole lot better than it did on the way over there on the generic map. I've also got my original chip and one to put in once I've moved the MAF if I decide to do that. Stefan recomended moving it to before the charger so that it's in cooler air which makes sense. I'm going to look into relocating it and getting a pipe from charger to inlet in the near future to allow for this.

ah cool sounds good then mate :) would be interested to see what you do and what the results are with the positioning of the MAF - always thought it made more sense to have it before the charger but pretty much all the peeps running Z's run it after and RUF told me to run it after as well :)

Right, an update...so last week wednesday morning, we get a phonecall saying that the R32 was ready for collection, so we loaded up my new daily (i will tell you with what later) and headed towards the Channel Tunnel that evening.

We arrived in france about 02:00 and decided to have a rest for an hour or so...when we woke up this is what we saw!

Daylight!

So, we put our foot down through the 4 countries as we had planned to be back the thursday night, and that wasnt going to happen the way we were going!!

Anyway, the long and short of it is the R32 made 504 bhp, we ended up staying the thursday night in Germany as we had a few little running issues with the mk4 which we wanted to rectify before we brought it back to england.

Some pics for you...

*I got a text message last week from Patrick containing a picture of the MK5 R32 Twin Turbo and nearly choked on my drink when I opened the file*

You really should warn forum members about the rude content of your posts cuz. Some people may find it offensive to hear of, and see pictures of such things!

I wonder what that would do on 1/4 mile run? hmmm *-)

Once again what a selection of cars at SLS Tuning and you took some damn good pics too ;). The R with the ZR3 charger on it was there when we went last time I think but not finished? Fuming that I couldn't make it out for this return trip but here's always next time ....

can se that gb mrk3 is still there' date='we where there last wensday fin adjusting a 3.0 sls sportmotor

they startet the caddy for the first time last week, very nice it´s a brand new 1.9 with around 250bhp.

do you know the story with the GB mrk3 car???

we didn´t meet stefan(or he was not intereset in us) they do sell alot to the danes also why sls when you know raj???

[/quote']

The blue mk3 belonged to a customer of ours who wanted to sell it as well as the black mk3 round the side of the building (husband and wife combo). They now own an rs4 and an s3, so stefan took the 2 cars off us for a good price. Raj does alot of work with stefan, so we decided to do the drive instead of getting the remap files sent to us.

Pat, was this the black mk3 owned by a doctor with the quaife box ?

@ golfrabbit33: yes it was, car was sold to sls complete and then broken for bits there.

@ tonyvrec: you need time, devotion and a passport!! oh, and an understanding wife and kids!! lol!!

The new daily is actually for her as the kids (3 girls) are getting bigger now and the mk3 vr is getting smaller in the back for them. The passat is the 2.3 v5..not bad on the motorway, but a big sluggish in the midrange. Anyway, word has it that the 3.2 lump will mate to the v5 gearbox.................can anyone see where this is leading??!! lol!

wasnt my fault last time :) the oil just didnt like being on the inside of the engine. i still cringe at the ten times my name was called out at pod thanking me for oiling lane 1 up. wont be for a while, got a thousand miles of 50mph tops to bed the new pistons in.

back on topic. r32 project........ i wonder :)
