twelvevalve 0 Posted September 22, 2009 Report Share Posted September 22, 2009 hi all on my vr6 i have a rattle from the left hand side of the engine down where the pulleys are locatted its on tickover and also when you rev,anyone know the cause or had the same problem? coul;d it be the tensioner .any help would be great Link to post Share on other sites

twelvevalve 0 Posted September 23, 2009 Author Report Share Posted September 23, 2009 thanks i will check that ,it does sound like a slight ticking,can i regrease them or do i have to buy a new one? i did my timing guides and tensiners but didnt replace the chains as vw say they dont need it,i first thought it may be them. russj249 2 Posted September 25, 2009 Report Share Posted September 25, 2009 chains are gearbox side on the VR6 mate so won't be anything to do with timing.Take the belt off and have a feel for any play in any of the pulleys or roughness when spun. Easy way to check bearings, and shine light down and have a look for any signs of wear where the belt runs. Link to post Share on other sites
