best way to remove charcoal canister

Recommended Posts

Right, well I did it anyway, don't know if I should have done it but still.

What I did was unclip the black hose from that pump thing, and cut the clear hose off not far from the pump, then simply connected that clear hose directly to the pump thing.

Took 2 mins.

And Mat, the difference is amazing having it in your bumper, and for some reason it sounds miles better.

I used some 78mm samco hose straight off the MAF, to a 90 degree bend hose down through hose and attached it there. Will get some pics up i think.

when i removed mine i blocked off the black pipe and threaded the clear one into the wheel arch as to avoid filling my engine bay with fumes!

As for removal, i removed the headlight just for ease of access. Then undid the clip at the bottom of the canister, gave it a wiggle and it came free, then slid it out and chucked it i think! Car has been running fine ever since - no difference in performance or anything, or nothing noticeable anyway.

I'm quite surprised about that. Mine is miles better, before I just had a cone filter in the air box, and not with the samco piping it's a noticable difference. I will upload some pics.

I did a bit more than just take the light out :D

I think the canister is just a breather for the petrol tank so shouldn't effect the performance in anyway.

I might have got a bit mixed up here..

removing the canister wont do anything no, but moving my air filter to behind the bumper vent has made the difference.

Also that temp sensor would make sense as after taking the GF home last night is was showing nearly 30degree's outside at half 11 haha I just put it in the engine bay for the time being.

i done that to mine a while ago and it runs perfectly fine, and makes a wonderful noise, also to do mine i just removed the front bumper for access.

i tried using the outside air temp sensor to measure intake temps but it never worked and now i got a little hole in my samco pipe and a knackered temp sensor lol
