UKG Grant 1
Basically, im working out costs of various things, one of the possibilities is a R32 conversion. to work out a price im trying to work out what i would need, and what i would need to do.Im after a list i suppose of everything i would need and what i can get away with not getting and use from my radddo vr6 e.g gear box if its better ratio? rad? things like that so I can work out if it would be worth it, or if it would be of more interest to re-build a vr engine and go forced induction?any ideas/help would be greatly appreciated
craggsy 91
Big decisions need to be made mate...........what ever you decide will be worth it
spadam 7
ive been looking at this to. Either supercharge the vr or get an r32 conversion. would you being doing the work your self. i would say it would probally be cheaper and more reliable in the long run to go r32. Not to sure on price etc. Would like to find out tho.
UKG Grant 1
yeh i would do the work myself, not worth the money to pay someone, its just cost vs performance, if im looking and spending another 1000 for the sake for 50bhp thats not something i would be happy about. although a vr with forced induction would put down more power at the right psi, a r32 with some good cams and a re-map might not be far off it price vs performance wise. im guessing its a strait swap engine mounts etc, but being a corrado the rad is ofset and at a angle, things like this im not sure about as iv never realy looked properly at a r32 engine. or actually seen one in a corrado to see how it was done.the main reason i wanted to have a list is so i don't get half way through and find im missing something or need to do something important. if you have everything there's no reason it couldn't be done in a weekend really. spadam 7
yea good point i read up on a conversion done by tsr into a seat ibiza. They used r32 ecu and remape it with just a ram air and got 255bhp. preety sure you could get more but dont no how much work is involved.
FishWick 21
Why don't you go onto the Corrado forum as there are a few guys on there installing R32s in Corrados? KIPVR and Herisites both actively doing R32 installs. It bolts right in and so long as you use slim fans, the radiator is unaffected. As for a list, just get EVERYTHING from the donor vehicle, bulkhead forwards and go from there. No one is going to write you a nice little list out listing every bolt and clip. Every install is different. Just get the engine, all it's ancills and the entire engine loom and you can't go far wrong.
UKG Grant 1
cheers mate, forgot about the raddo forum, the list i wanted is just the things i need, as im sure i wouldn’t need everything as im sure i would be able to use existing parts from my vr6 for a few things. that’s what i was more after rather then every nut and bolt, just the less obvious things, cheers for that though il have a look on there!
