gavinvr6 0
im sure this question has been answered before but i cant find it on the search option. just that you must not sand the knobble awayanyway, i want to do the old smooth the inside of the throttle body thingy. but the questions i have are plentyfull - i have a rado tb, does this have the so called knobble on the inlet side? does it also have one on the outlet side? also what is under said knobble? what happens if i grind through it? is it just a hole or are we talking water way or something?if i do grind through it can i chemical metal it and re smooth it?obviously i dont want to over smooth the internals so how far upto the butterfly should i go to? if i stop 1mm short each side will it still have the desired effect but save the tb from sucking in to much air on closed throttle? or should i stop short then just light sand paper it with some 1200 under the butterfly?sorry to ask so many questions but i want to get it right first time, i cant afford another tb
FishWick 21
Leave it alone! Doing that will yield absolutely nothing. The only way to gain anything from a throttle is to enlarge the throttle plate.Nope, the Corrado doesn't have the ramp in the inlet side. It has a 2 stage opening mechanism instead. Slow at first, then faster. It mimics the ramp in the Golf OBD1 throttle. The Corrado throttle is nasty, far too heavy, causes ankle ache on long journeys.Whilst I'm on, everyone assumes the Corrado throttle is bigger and better. It isn't. It has exactly the same throttle plate size as the 2.8 OBD1 throttle. The Ramp in the 2.8 throtte is there to speed up gas flow at light loads to improve torque and make the engine less snatchy. I would not remove it, and yes, if you sand that off you will make a nice big hole in the throttle.
