john555 0
ok iv currently got a v9 on my car with everything setup for 12ps including a head spacer, i mite be able to da a swap for a rotax c30-94 with 14psi pully but im wondering if its worth all the hasslecan anyone advise me on wot they thing of there rotax chargersiewhat sort of power do these make at 14psiwould an engine with standard pistons take itatre these reliablewhat do they sound like (are they loud on tickover, do they still go silly loud at high rpm)my spec is obd2 2.8 vr6standard pistons compression spacerallard charge cooler any help would be great thanks john
spadam 7
Yea id also like to no the pro's and cons of a rotrex vs v9. Reliability, performance, ease to tune, tunning potential, prices of each of the 2 if anyone could help us be great.
craggsy 91
Not had a V9 so cannot coment on that but i do have a C30-94 Rotrex charger running a 6psi pulley and have 280bhp. I just have a schrick inlet mani, flowed head and spacer plate. Tuning is quite easy with the rotrex really, just change pulley and poss add bigger injectors.I know cabrioman was running a V9 i think and was getting 292bhp at about 12-14 psi on a 2.9 engine. So less stress for me only running 6psi and nearly same power
craggsy 91
As for sound they sound no different to any other charger on tickover, and all you hear at speed is the whoosh of intake and the usual whine.A very easy install really as you dont do anything to actual engine really. Like no tapping the sump for oil line. All you have to do is cut tensioner a little bit and possibly grind head a little bit, but that depends really. My original head didnt but flowed head needed to be ground back...well used a hack saw
craggsy 91
14psi should see you easy over 300bhp as Storm say 10psi will get you 310bhp on a 2.
spadam 7
looks like rotrex is the way to go then. looke on storms website and its £2000 plus vat for stage 1. Craggsy how u finding traction at the moment.

craggsy 91
C38 rotrex chargers are bigger than mine. More room in bay to put other things tho with it being relativly small
spadam 7
so cragsy you reckon you can get 400bhp out of a charger. Whos the power band is it all high up 4000rpm and up or still feel strong down low.
craggsy 91
Peak power on mine is around 5k mark. And yes 400bhp from a charger is very much possible. Ask vrsick mate all be it using a 3.2. But it is possible but will need stronger internals and cooling of some sort
mike 6
C38 rotrex chargers are bigger than mine. More room in bay to put other things tho with it being relativly smallso what kinda power do they produce, bet there not many of them going about second hand, altho yours was a rare pick up wasnt it, you saved about a grand didnt you? Antihero1981 8
yeah but you need to think of other mods when going above 300bhp and also what boost your running...i got the v9 and on stage 2 i am running 290BHp with a few little mods......she runs sweet ,the noise takes a little while to get used to ......but if i put stage 3 bits on i can get over 300bhpcharge cooler is next on list for my stage
john555 0
yer your setup was wot i was runnin last yer my cars all set for stage 3 now but im thinkin ill probly still not be hsppy with it so mite as well jst go straight for the rotax setupand i already have all the bits off my stage 2 setup, lower comp and a charge cooler so cant realy think of anything else ill need so im hopefully pretty much sorted aslong as my clutch holds up
