Exhaust question....

Recommended Posts

hi

Ive read variouse other threads abouts exhausts and i understand the need for back pressure etc as well as the seemingly different effects you get by removing certain restrictive elements of the system.

My vento's not quiet on the road yet but i noticed when checking for exhaust leaks the back box WASN'T actually attatched to the next square silencer as it had totally rotted away, i removed the end can then removed the next straight cylindrical silencer noticing the end of thatt was rotten too.

Im presuming the CAT is the first "restrictor" working from the manifold end ?

point of this is i have an old DMT style end can that ide cut the tips off for a previouse side exit jobby and have noticed it will fit straight to the "next straight cylindrical silencer" so i was thinking of just runnin CAT to Mid silencer straight to the back box n mount it just before the rear beam.

Doing this would mean me not having to buy any more parts and also possible increase the systems performance or totally jigger up the back pressure element forcing me to replace silencers n such ?

just looking for peoples previous experiences or opinions really

well in essence it sounds like you are describing either a one or a 2 box system there. if it is a 2 box then could be ok. the one box wil be VERY loud.

It is hard to tell. Why not give it a go and tell us. Sounds like an easy job for you...

Ive got a 1 box system is loud but doesnt seem to bother me may bother the neighbours when it sets the car alarms off at 6.00am. Ive lost slight torque low down but more then made up for it 4000rpm and above.
