daxmatt 0
Hi all, I have just got some 17x8 alloys and it has 215/40 tyres and they just dont fit under the rear arches, if I had a lower/stretched tyre I may get it to workmy car is low but not on coilovers, rather than buysome tyres and it be a waste if any one is running 205/40s would you mind measureing the height of them for me, it wont matter if there not eights im just trying to see if there will be a difference between the 2 , mine measure 60cm, sounds bizzare but if any one could help it would be greatley appreciatedmany thanks matt

VR6Nat 9
Hey mate do you mean the measurement from the edge of the rim to the top of the tread? If so im running 205-40-17s and my cars outside so i can run and check for ya.
daxmatt 0
Hi there it could be either really, I did end to end, but from the top of the tread to rim top would do it aswellmany thanks matt
binliner 0
Got any pics of your problem as Im having trouble picturing how the height of your wheel/tyre is going to help tuck them under the arches? If it helps I went from 205/40/17 to 195/40/17 on my 7.5" rims and it stopped it rubbing... tbh a 195 would easily go on an 8 so Id go for that over a
VR6Nat 9
i make mine about 50 - 55mm from the top of the rim to the top of the tread, but then im low on tread! So its gonna be hard to tell really.... you may need some more ppls measurements....
kie_dub 0
if you mean the size frm rim to tread then it would be 40mm if the middle number is 40 i think, like binliner said get the next width size or 2 down and it should solve it might need to get ya arches rolled

daxmatt 0
I dont have any pics at the moment but I can get some tomorrow, basically the car is quite low and with the rims being et30 & 8s they stick out a bit, but with the 215s as soon as the car is off the jack on the rears the arch sits on the tyre and the bumper will also catch, I know that I will need to roll the arches but im trying to limit any further scrubbing, I was hoping that a slightly narower tyre would reduce the tyre profile/stretch enough to limit the catching cheers matt
binliner 0
Are you sure they're et30? ET30 shouldn't be sticking out that far!A 195/40/17 tyre should do the trick and a bit of negative camber would help as well

daxmatt 0
Yeah there defo et30 its probably just me not being used to wheels that are wider, im currently on 16" steels with 195/40s on et42 so there well under the arches, its looking like its going to be the 195s im needing, im hoping they will be ok on the 8s, does any one know the best place to get themcheers matt
