FIRE UNDER MY BONNET!

Recommended Posts

I picked up my bmc filter a few weeks, so i decided to fit it in. I manged to get the charcoal cannister free, but as darkness was falling i let it dangle near the brake fluid reservoir

till the next day. HOW STUPID OF ME! Last night i was in a macdonalds car park, when i noticed white smoke coming from the engine. I opened the bonnett only to find the bloody cannister was on fire and melting away. I quickly put the fire away and called recovery. This evening i got under the bonnet and inspected what damage had been done. Luckily it wasnt that bad as i thought. I cleared away the ash from bottom and scraped off all the crap.

The canniseter pipe connecters are fraggled.

The intake pipe is melted and split (where it connects to the throttle body).

2 connectors on the intake pipe have melted

Finally....Theres a black looking round object behind the brake fluid reservoir which has a black rubber cable/pipe running from it, towards the direction of battery. This seems to have melted and split.

Ive also noticed my brake pedal isnt responsive at all.

Luckily brake fluid reservoir & brake lines are all ok.

I started the car up for a few mins, just to check if it did start. Was ok.
