amazak 3
The lower you go the more shite the ride is going to get irrespective of the setup, obviously expensive kits will be a little more subtle but still harsh. When I got my car it was standard and there was not a sigle interior part that had a rattle, now that it has been lowered 60mm the ride is very harsh and interior rattles away almost all the time, I hate that. Also for me colies were not an option primary reason was budget but apart from that I will never adjust them cause I don't have the time lol. daxmatt 0
Just had the same dilema myself, I have had cars with both shocks and springs and coilovers fitted, I hated the coilovers, complete ball ache to set I allways found myself wondering if it looked even and balanced on each corner and the ride was garbage, so today I got springs and shocks orderedcheers matt
Ben Seabrook 4
well I have just gone from an eibach springs and shocks set up which was fine but not too low, ride was much better than standard but with a bit more power the car still dipped a lot when you accelerated hard and rolled in the corners if you pushed it. Now have some budget coilies on and they are only about 2 inches lower but the handling is so much better, the car is more level and the back doesn't dip at all. Think there are pros and cons for both to be honest and I cant see me adjusting the coilies very often but after driving the car with them can defo see the benefit.
rodney 17
cost cost cost.we all know the car has to be lowered.... if you go for the spring shock set up as above then you can immediately lower it either 20-25mm or 30-40mm. Dependent on what kit you buy. The shocks are adjustable so you can make the ride full on solid or less harsh. What do you want to do? Once you are lower than 30mm speedhumps etc become a concern. So if you just want to drop it and be done then combo is the way forwards and decide how low you want to go.If you want the option to scrape on the ground for shows then coilovers are the way forwards. However as the chaps say... the lower you go the harsher the ride. Think of it this way. The springs are engineered with an effect which allows movement then will stiffen up as that movement progresses. So small lumps are rolled over big lumps make the springs work harder. thats why you have differing types of coil on every spring.... If you see what I mean. So if you compress a spring on a coilover then you are affecting the way the spring operates. thus taking the soft bit out of the mechanics in the spring. Ya get me????So what do you wanna do there fella???good luck
binliner 0
As has been said It all comes down to what you want and what you spend... Buy cheap coilovers and they'll be harsh so if you want a decent ride and to be low then you need to spend the money and go for Koni, KW or at the least FK konigs with damping as well as height adjustmentsIf you only want a subtle drop (ie 35mm) then koni top adjustable shocks and eibach springs is a good combo
